Notification/Building Regulations
Since April 2005, CORGI registered installers are required by law to notify CORGI when a new or exchanged gas appliance has been fitted. CORGI will then issue a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate which confirms that the work:-
- Has been carried out by a CORGI Registered Installer
- Was carried out in accordance with the relevant Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations
- Has been carried out by a Self Certified Installer and that all work undertaken is compliant with the relevant Building Regulations
This applies to every gas appliance
You will need to keep any such certificates safely so that they may be produced when:
- You move house (Home Information Packs) or
- To support any insurance claim(s)
Failure to comply with Building Regulations may result in prosecution or a fine of up to £5,000.
